Trainee : Hixon, T Training : MAA Location : NSB Kings Bay, GA Year of Training : summer 2007 Duration of Training : 2 weeks Would recommend?? : YES Overall Grade : A Difficulty of Training : 3.5 Comments : This training was very hands on with a lot of classroom time. We did PT every morning at 5 and ran about 3 miles. We had live fire training to navy qualification standards. We also got to spend the weekend with the base MAAs and did vehicle searches and patrols with them. The staff was mostly actual navy personnel and that was great because they shared their experiences in the navy with us. Overall it was a great training and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to be a MAA. This training did not give the silver badges to us which is a bummer because you can only recieve it at MAA training, but we did recieve BDU badges. |

Trainee : Wasicsko, B Training : Staffing League Orientation Location : St. Petersburg, FL (AFA) Year of Training : summer 2007 Duration of Training : 1 week Would recommend?? : Yes Overall Grade : A Difficulty of Training : 5 Comments : Staffing is the most important job in the NSCC and, in my opinion, is the toughest. Yes, SEAL, Amphip, and other field trainings will challenge you physically and mentally, but staffing will do both of those as well as challenge you morally. You will be lucky to get 6 hours of sleep per night, must always be top-notch; anything substandard in ANY way will not be acceptable. As staff cadets you are respected, admired, and impersonated in that your cadets will perform no better than you. If you do not set your personal standards above and beyond that which is required, you may not succeed as this job. This has been the most rewarding experience in my sea cadet career. |
